Chef Kevin Rathbun’s interactive restaurant cooking classes (www.rathbunsrestaurant.com/cookingclasses.htm) always sell out immediately. And while that is the case with his current 2010 class schedule, Chef Rathbun is making extra room to include one more person in each of his classes. Why? To benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank! Class price is normally $350 per person, but for only $20 per chance you could win an opportunity to cook with him in his restaurant kitchen! The Food Bank will benefit from 100% of the raffle proceeds.

What is it?
Learn to cook in a state-of-the-art teaching facility as the finest chefs in Metro Atlanta donate their talents, time and ingredients. During the two-hour sessions chefs prepare, on average, three recipes and share samples with participants.

Classes are held in three Cook's Warehouse locations: Brookhaven, Midtown/Ansley, and Decatur.
Directions are available for The Cook's Warehouse.
Cost/Tuition
Costs vary depending on level of participation, ranging from $40 to $150.
One-hundred percent of class tuition benefits Atlanta's Table, a project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Please note that the non-refundable class tuition fee is required at the time of registration.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation is accepted no later than 48 hours prior to the scheduled class. No cash refunds will be given. A one-time class credit will be issued, based upon schedule availability.

With vast experience in and knowledge of the Italian kitchen, including preparing and developing seasonal menus with the venerable Lidia Bastianich, Chef Richards will demonstrate three dishes you can make to impress: Beef Tagliata with summer salad and shaved Parmigianino, Risotto with shrimp and pesto, and Zuppa di Pesce with grilled bread. Atlanta’s own Chef Touhy has made quite a mark on the local culinary scene with Dogwood’s seasonally driven cuisine. He brings his passion to Simple Abundance with the following three course menu: Seasonal Soup: Acorn Squash with Grilled Venison Sausage, crème fraiche and cranberry jam, Entrée: Tupelo Honey glazed Berkshire Pork Loin and Fall Salad with apples, pears, dried cranberries, crumbled blue cheese, candied pecans and maple balsamic dressing; Dessert: Pear and Apple Cobbler with almond ginger streusel. Georgia native Chef Schafer, who recently took the helm at Parish, described his food in a recent article as “rustic Southern, lightened and refined with European technique.” With the holidays around the corner, he’s demonstrating dishes that can be prepared for large parties or served on a smaller scale as a single coursed out meal. Class attendees will learn how to make Smoked Trout Deviled Eggs with spicy greens, dill and crème fraiche, Coffee Rubbed Roasted Pork Loin with winter vegetable succotash and coffee balsamic reduction, and Pear and Almond Crustade with wildflower honey ice cream. Demystifying Bread: Ciabatta

The brain-child of Chef Linton Hopkins, H&F Bread Company came on the scene and quickly became one of the most popular bakeries in Atlanta, not only with the general public, but other hospitality businesses as well. H&F Bread Company provides bread for many of Atlanta’s most popular specialty stores, farmers markets, coffee shops, cafes and restaurants. If you dine out, odds are you’ve experienced their delicious bread. In this class Chef Rob Alexander takes the mystery out of making bread, specifically the perfect Ciabatta. While the class will be devoted to the craft of mixing, folding and baking ciabatta, Chef Alexander will also show the class how to translate the dough into other applications: Meatless Monday Sandwich – Tomato Basil Mozzarella “open face” (two variations), Rosemary Grape Foccacia, and La Quercia Procuitto Americano Sandwich with Arugula and cultured butter. Formed in 1993 by eight of the nation’s top women chefs and restaurateurs, Women Chefs & Restaurateurs has grown to over 2,000 members nationwide with the mission to promote and enhance the education, advancement and connections of women in the culinary industry. Join five talented WCR chefs as they share tips, techniques, recipes and stories.
