How about those Bravos, huh? They’ve been having a great season so far on the field--but we like to think it’s because they know the amazing work they’re doing off the field too. This season, in partnership with the Atlanta Braves and Kroger, we’re going to “Strike Out Hunger” across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.
Longtime supporters may recognize Strike Out Hunger from John Smoltz’s playing days when, for every time he struck out, he would make a donation to the Food Bank. This time around, we’re enlisting several pitchers, current and retired, to help Strike Out Hunger.
At every Friday home game this season, fans can make a donation of $20 or 20 cans and get the autograph of the pitcher participating that night. For our first game on April 5, Tim Hudson signed autographs for the donors of the night. We were able to collect 230 pounds of food and raised $820. How cool is that?
